ABSU VC INAUGURATES THE RE-CONSTITUTED ICT COMMITTEE AND TETFUND AST & D AND CONFERENCES

  


The Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, has inaugurated the re-constituted ICT Committee, and committee on TETFUND Academic Staff Training and Development (AST&D) and Conferences, with a charge to step up their activities in order to meet the current challenges of the University.

  

Professor Ikonne said the members of the committee were professionals and astute administrators, who were carefully selected to achieve the objectives of setting up the committees. He stated that the foundation of every academic programme is the department, and every department therefore must be compliant to modern information communication technology (ICT). He also charged the members of the TETFUND committee to engage the academic community to involve in true scholarship in order to access the funding from TETFUND.

  

The Vice-Chancellor informed members that Abia State University now ranked 3rd among State Universities in the Country saying this was as a result of computerization of some key areas of administration which is a pre-requisite even for accreditation purposes. He maintained that the university has the capacity, both in the area of ICT and Academic Staff Training and Developments, to achieve the objectives set for the committee.

  


In a vote of thanks, the chairman of the committee, who is also the Director, Academic Planning, Professor Gozie Okpara promised that the committees will not let the VC down.
