The Vice Chancellor, Prof, Uche E Ikonne
It was an emotional display of academic excellence last Saturday at Abia State University Auditorium as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uche Ikonne, delivered the maiden memorial lecture of PROFESSOR PAUL OLEKAMMA OGBUEHI.
The event which was under the distinguished Chairmanship of Emeritus Professor F.C Akpuaka attracted dignitaries including Vice-Chancellors of Imo State University (IMSU) & Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO),Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, Abia State University Senate led by the Vice-Chancellor, members of the Nigerian College of Optometrists, Religious, Political and Traditional leaders.
Delivering the lecture, Professor Ikonne who is also the Registrar, Nigeria college of Optometrist, extoled the Late President, Prof. P.O Ogbuehi for establishing the college as well as laws guiding the collage.
The Registrar noted that the essence of the lecture is to remind its members on the need to advance their profession through research. He also charged members to collaborate with other professions that are related with their field of study to achieve their desired gold, adding that professionalism must be advanced through research
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the occasion Prof. F.C Akpuaka charged members of the association to uphold the ethics of the profession, pointing out that Nigerian Optometrists are going global.
High point of the conference was the presentation of NUC BMAS for post graduate studies in optometry, Induction and issuance of certificates to the inductees.
