Dr. Steve Egbo Wrote:

" ANOTHER DAY OF DOUBLE HONORS
It was a day of double, nay, triple honors, in Abia State University today when HUMSSA and the larger community conferred on me two Distinguished Merit awards: "THE MOST PUNCTUAL LECTURER IN ABSU" and "A DISTINGUISHED AMBASSADOR OF HUMSSA". There was also a chiefaincy, EBUBE DIKE of ABSU. I give all glory to God who made it possible.

That my sacrifices in Absu is remembered and appreciated is a thing of joy, for there was a time when Steve was seen as a problem in Absu. Today, as in so many other days, I feel vindicated. In my speech, I told them that Absu defined my life and I in turn gave Absu the best of my youth. I told them that I may have left Absu physically but that my heart will remain in Absu till eternity. I also emphasized the need for hardwork, discipline and dedication. I told the students that my watchword and guiding principles remain DISCIPLINE and SCHOLARSHIP, and urged them to cultivate and uphold this as a foundation for a better tomorrow.

It was a home coming of sorts and I thank the University Authority, my esteemed colleagues, especially, my graduated students who still felt duty bound to come around and join me. I am grateful to all of you and it means a lot to me, for, when you exit a place, and those people still find delight in your presence, it means you left a good legacy.
